Haemophilia, a hereditary genetic disorder that impairs the ability of blood to clot, was a trait that spread from Queen Victoria throughout the royal houses of Europe in the 1800s and 1900s. Many descendants of Queen Victoria inherited the gene and passed it on to their children, and a large number of deaths in European royal families were caused by haemophilia.
