The longest professional baseball game ever played took place over two nights in 1981 between two Triple-A teams, the Pawtucket Red Sox and the Rochester Red Wings. Play on the first night lasted until the end of the 32nd inning, at 4:07 AM on April 19th, and was resumed in June. The resumed game lasted only 18 minutes with the Red Sox scoring the winning run in the bottom of the 33rd inning. The length of the entire game was 8 hours and 25 minutes, one player went 0-for-13, and another was 0-for-11 with 8 strikeouts.
