On November 22, 1987, an unidentified man successfully hijacked the broadcast signal of two television stations in Chicago. Wearing a Max Headroom mask, the hijacker interrupted the broadcast of both a newscast on WGN and a Doctor Who episode on WTTW. The WGN hijack had only video and lasted for 20 seconds. The WTTW hijack, on the other hand, lasted 90 seconds and featured audio as well as video. The hijacker spoke many strange phrases before being spanked with a flyswatter by an unknown person.
