Jim Corbett was a famed big game hunter who tracked and killed at least a dozen man-eating tigers and leopards in India in the early 20th century. He hunted alone and on foot, and preferred to stalk his prey very closely before firing. Reportedly, the man killers he eliminated were responsible for over 1500 human deaths. He was, however, a conservationist and only shot animals that were attacking humans or cattle. Some of his most famous kills were the Tigers of Chowgarh, the Leopard of Rudraprayag, the Champawat Tiger, and Leopard of Panar.
