Stronsay Beast

The Stronsay Beast is the name given to the 55 foot carcass of an unidentified, dead sea creature that washed ashore on the island of Stronsay in Northern Scotland in 1808. The creature was missing part of its tail, meaning that it it was in fact longer than 55 feet prior to decomposing, and it was also four feet wide. The beast also had three pairs of paws, fins edged with bristles that glowed in the dark when wet, and is very similar in appearance to the Loch Ness Monster, nicknamed “Nessie”, also found in Scotland. Researchers suggest that the carcass is that of a basking shark, though it would exceed by at least 15 feet the largest basking shark ever found in history.
